Fromin's has been quietly holding court as Encino's deli king for 40 years. A four-page menu loaded with all of the usual artery-choking delights like their Russian dressing-coated, sky-high pastrami sandwiches keeps this flashy rival of Jerry's a viable option. Fromin's keeps a down-to-earth attitude that has locals coming in every Sunday for spinach-and-jack omelets and chocolate chip pancakes for the kids. Unassuming booths and red-brick walls provide a casual look to the deli, whose cheery waitstaff makes an effort to remember the names of its regulars. If you're nervous about calorie count, Fromin's also offers an abundance of health-conscious alternatives such as scrambled egg whites and lox and soup 'n' salad combos. Despite the large number of families and couples that descend to Fromin's for a short stack or bowl of matzo ball soup, chances are you won't be kept waiting too long.

Fromin's

I went to the Fromin's in Santa Monica a long, long time ago. I remember it was delicious food and warm atmostphere. I miss that warm Jewish comfort food. The best breakfasts! Very hearty portions. This was in the '80's...

It's not the same as before...

It used to go to Fromins often. When the original owners sold the Fromins a few years back , Fromins lost its edge. Since then Fromins was sold again and this time is was bought by a someone who is not Jewish, not that should be a prerequisite to owning a Jewish Deli but I saw how things really change. It felt like they were stingy on some food items, like the onion rings. The owners did not have the "jewish" way of operating a Jewish deli. It would be like me owning an italian restaurant.

Good, but not the BEST!

Food was good, nothing wonderful. Seems to be going down hill along with alot of places that have been around awhile.
