Who's writing these reviews?? We ordered egg rolls, lemon chicken, and sweet and pungent shrimp. The egg rolls were pricey, but good. However, they were served with hot mustard and, of all things, KETCHUP. Why ketchup in a Chinese restaurant? I don't know. (Especially for a place whose menu talks about how they use 'authentic' recipes from the 10th century!)The 'sweet and sour' sauce served with the eggrolls also tasted (and looked) surprisingly like ketchup, albeit with a transluscent sheen to it. When my 'sweet and pungent shrimp' arrived, it ALSO had the distinct twinge of ketchup! What is going on here?? The entrees (lemon chicken & sweet and pungent shrimp) were served in a pool of gloppy syrup (the lemon chicken inexplicably had maraschino cherries floating in the goop). The entrees were quite pricey ($14-$15!) for extremely low quality. The only positive spin I could put on this is that there was quite a generous portion of shrimp. I'd rate this place even below Panda Express... (although I get the feeling that the above reviewers probably would enjoy PE as well...)City Wok in North Hollywood is comparably priced (cheaper in some areas) and is MUCH better LA Chinese.
