IL WASTE OF TIME!!!
I enjoy eating out. I luv trying out "BUZZ Bistros" and I made reservations at Il sole- Il WASTE OF TIME for dinner (4 guests) a couple of days ago and requested for patio dining. The request was confirmed via email and also I personally confirmed the reservation by phone last night and was not given any warning of what i was going to hear on the day of the event We arrived at Il Sole today at 615pm to celebrate my husbands birthday and to my DISAPPOINTMENT, I was told that we can only eat at the confirmed patio reservation for 1 hour and 15 minutes!!!!!! how can one enjoy a birthday celebration with appetizers, drinks, main course, dessert and coffee in an hour and 15 minutes????? It was a complete waste of time! they should include in their website or when they confirm requests that you are only allowed to have the table for an hour and 15 minutes. IL RUSH????? we went to AGO's instead and had a wonderful time. Spent $350.00 at Ago's but well worth it.
Ripoff
I've been in the restaurant business for 28 years and enjoy dining out. If the food is good and the price points are high, so be it. This place has many flaws and I can't see how they do the business. My understanding is that good Italian is difficult to find in the Los Angeles area. The menu is very basic Italian (pastas, chicken and beef dishes) and nothing innovative. My critique:
Service: Hurried. Having a 7:30 res. we were handed menus and asked what kind of water we preferred (bottled or tap). When the water was served the waiter went right into the specials of the day saying the while he was here he would get that part "out of the way". As he was going through the list, he was not giving prices. I asked what was the price point on the beef special and he replied $73. I thought that would be a heck of a surprise on a check as another beef item on the menu was in the $40 range. We ordered & the courses flew out of the kitchen. After we finished our entrees, we were asked about dessert. We declined as we were full, and opted to just sip our wine and relax. Within a minute the waited returned & presented the check to our table. Suppose I wanted another glass of wine or an after dinner drink? Really wanted to flip the table.
Food Quality: Fair to Poor. Bread was not hot and not fresh and it was accompanied with a musty olive oil. Clam dish was bland, salad was good. I ordered Lasagna and the 5x4 inch piece that I received first looked lost on the plate, but most importantly, tasted like something from a high school cafeteria. Look, I know Hollywood is Hollywood, but for $28 a copy, it better be the best Lasagna I've ever eaten.
My guest's Dover Sole was OK, but again, at $46.00 it should be great.
If you are celeb watching, this is the place (Nicki Hilton arrived in a limo while we were there). I could care less. Just wanted a quality meal with appropriate service. This place missed the mark in all categories. My advice- Stay Away
