i was shocked !! yes shocked, when i went the very first time, after all these people RAV'd about it.. it was pretty bad, sloppy sushis, pretty ordanary "californian" style sushi ( which i love some time )... ! ok.. i'll give it a benefit of doubt, maybe that very first night my taste bud, wasn't quite there.. so i went the second time, i was still walking out with all kind of disappointment, and question marks ? there's many sushi choices on the ventura blvd, katsu-ya is definitely not the best .. some one help me.

Yummy

This place is awesome. Yes, you must know what to order. My boyfriend and I met one of the "chefs" while he lunched at another sushi restaurant (Sushi House of Taka in Sherman Oaks) and he told us what to order. Try Sushi House of Taka, though. It's small and not too cozy, but I would also give it 5 stars...and the prices are great. The Katsu-Ya guy certainly liked Taka.

its not the best
By ruiz119g on 02/28/2006
What I was trying to say its not the best but for the local that go there its what they like because they order the same thing all the time. When I was there the person next to me order the same think over and over. So when I order something like Keso or nato they alway ask what I'm eating. Downtown L.A Little Tokyo has some real good places to eat Sushi if your going to eat tuna try O-Toro there are 4 different grades of Tuna (toro) So the next time your in Little Tokyo try Hamakawa on 2nd and central.

Hands down the best quality and most creative sushi anywhere. Katsu is a master.
