New York-style pizza is served in a dining room decorated to look like, of all things, a Big Apple subway station. Perhaps it doesn't make for the most relaxing atmosphere, but the tradeoff is that when you fold a slice of Lamonica's pizza in half and start to chew, you may actually start to feel like you're back home (or back East) again. Popular with students and East Coast transplants, the restaurant offers meals that are both cheap and quick -- though not healthy by any means. Choose from a variety of by-the-slice offerings or build your own pizza from the topping selections. Fans claim that the crust is what actually makes it superior. There is another, equally popular, restaurant of the same name downtown, but it's under different ownership.

High Rent? You're obligated to thousands of fans wandering aimlessly looking for your Pizza in the Pas. area. Rents are lower---look again!

Da Best
By EfrPas on 05/16/2008
They used to have a location in Old Town Pasadena, but rent got too high and they closed. I cried that day. This is as close to a NY Pizza that you can get in SoCal. Thin crust and flavorful. Bring it back to the San Gabriel Valley so we don't have to go to LA for a good Pizza fix

Best pizza in LA?
By fdnyfriend on 01/05/2007
If you want the very best pizza in the world then go to Grimaldi's, which is under the Brooklyn Bridge. Its coal fired oven is one of a few still existing in New York and they cannot build anymore. This place is pizza Nirvana and it's worth the price of a ticket to New York just to eat there and I am NOT kidding. Okay, since most of you won't travel to Grimaldi's, Lamonica's serves a really just excellent pizza considering it is located in LA. I promise to feel sorry for those of you who will never know what a REAL thin crust, coal oven cooked, New York pizza tastes like and I will offer a salute to those who are unfamilar with that I am taking about. Those of you have tried a pie from Grimaldi's well, you know what I am talking about.
