Few would have guessed the success that Mexico City restaurant worker Alejandro Morales would find when he decided to pack his bags in 1979 and seek his fortune in the suburban outskirts of Los Angeles. It took two-and-a-half years of selling food from a catering truck before Alejandro and his wife had enough money to open up their own restaurant in Reseda and introduce the Valley community to authentic Mexico City cuisine. Since its opening in 1982, Las Fuentes has earned its place among the best of Los Angeles' Mexican eateries. Throngs of hungry guests flock to the small and colorful restaurant eager to wolf down menu items like beef or chicken taquitos heaped with guacamole, lettuce and sour cream, marinated pork tortas or homemade tamales. Las Fuentes also provides breakfast meals from 8-11AM, including carne asada with eggs and the standard huevos rancheros. Despite the three expansions that Las Fuentes has undergone over the years, a long wait for an order tends to be de rigeur, especially during the weekends, and a free table can be hard to come by. If you're not interested in a sit-down experience, it's generally a good idea to call ahead for pick-up orders.

The Very BEST !
By JOECACHO on 05/16/2008
I have grown up in the Los Angeles area all my life (over 50 years), and through my overall experiences in mexican food, Las Fuentes stands out as one of the very best in food and service. they do get crowded at times , but I found that they take care of their customers. Their food is excellent! This is truly Mexican Food at it's Best. Carrillo's and El Tepayac come close but overall menu selections and standards exceed the all the rest.

Don't go there!
By fdnyfriend on 09/02/2007
The parking absolutely SUCKS! You can't have a drink because there is no bar. It is crowded and loud. Every cop in the area eats there. People are having waay to much fun stuffing their faces and making their eyes roll back in their heads with joy, but that is probably because they have the greatest enchiladas in the world and everything else is almost that good. Still, that is no reason to recomend a place to eat, right? The important things are the velvet paintings and sombreros on the wall correct? The snobbery of the wait staff because after all you suck! I would avoid this place unless you are simply looking for some of the best Mexican food you will ever have. The only better place I know is Javier's in Laguna Beach and that is just too far to drive.
