LA's premier Chinese restaurant is a tribute to the great dining palaces of Hong Kong. Step into the 800-seat dining room -- one of the city's largest -- and take pleasure in the most authentic Chinese dining experience this side of the People's Republic. The "Seafood" in the name doesn't even come close to telling the whole story. Dim sum (which translates to "touch your heart") is the most popular meal of the day, and is served for breakfast and lunch hours only. During the dim sum rush, a bustling troupe of waiters pushes large steaming carts around tables, crowded together banquet-style. When something tempting comes wheeling by, the diner simply points to the item he desires. The dim sum specialties are appetizer-sized portions of dumplings, soups, cakes and a few daring Chinese delicacies like chicken feet and curry squid. At night, the restaurant shifts to a traditional Chinese seafood menu with conventional table service, but the show is no less entertaining. Live fish and lobsters are plucked from the massive aquariums that line the walls, and brought to your table for inspection. It doesn't get any fresher than this. -- Mikael Romano

disappointing dinner.
By mozartman2000 on 10/18/2005
their dinner food is no better or worse than your typical hole-in-the-wall local chinese. heck, even i can cook the sauteed spinach with garlic at home. the crispy chicken was soggy and not very appetizing, and the portions of all the dishes are smallish and the presentation unimpressive. i'd go for the dim sum only (not 1/2 as good as chinatown's empress pavillion) and skip the dinner.

This is the place to get Dim Sum! My father took me for lunch one day and I was fasinated by this place. The place was packed and seeing all that food was awsome. This is a great place to get dim sum in all of MPk. The hall is decorated pretty cool and you see tons of people there.

music
By bcfortune on 12/13/2004
All restaurants should play music very loud and suddenly stop several times whenever there is a loud table with kids or parents who think and act like they are the only one there. Good food, place, staff but some patrons has to be dealt with or all other patrons are going to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Whee... Or seat according to fun or quiet like smoking or non, perfume or not ... ? you have to like rude low children and parents and smokers to eat at chinese or asian places.
