Simply Awful
I have been wanting to try this and finally made it. I could have spared myself the trouble. The food was simply awful, undercooked and bland. There was a line out the door and it was packed, while there is only one restroom which could use cleaning.
I won't be back
maybe "Never Again" from 10-05
Maybe "Never Again" with comments so negative on 10-06-05 is finally back home, to his/her country, where u can have your "Quail on Toast". lol. Get real, or go home.
Best diner-type chow in town
For those who like down-to-earth, diner-type food, this is THE place.
It should also be on the top-10 breakfast and best cheap eats lists.
The best cole slaw ANYWHERE.
Particular favorites of mine: beef cutlets, roast pork.
Suggestions:
1. Potatoes: avoid the (instant) mash potatoes and get the pan-fried spuds.
2. Vegetables: every day one of three (canned) vegetables is served with lunch and dinner, rotating between green beans, corn and peas. However, ask for the steamed carrots which are available every day.
.
A taste of history. Maintains the charm of the 30's, great food, great wait staff all add to the endless charm. I have eaten here for some fifty years
and cannot wait to get back each time. The food is baisc and simple as
all lunch counters should be. Sit at the counter and watch the cooks
prepare the meals is worth the price itself. To dislike the Pantry, you
must have been grown up at MacDonalds, not home cooked meals.
See you at the counter...Dean
