was a good deal
Back in my high school days(70S), THEY GAVE A GOOD SANDWICH AT A FAIR PRICE. NOW YOU GET 2 PIECES OF DRY ROAST BEEF ON A FRENCH ROLL. I used to tell people to go , but not now.
Long long ago.......
There was a time when Philippes was THE place to go. That being many many years ago when the sadwhich was big enough to fill you up and the pickled eggs made you pucker. Today Philippes is largely a tourist trap, and the value is one of the most horrible downtown. Small sandwhiches and smaller portions of meat(s) EAT ELSEWHERE, then you wont be hungry when you are done.
Way, Way Over Rated
Forget this "tourist clip joint," visit "The Hat" if you want a good sandwich. I worked within walking distance of this place for 1.5 score years and only went there when visiters insisted. Never did we have good service, food was so skimpy that we even went to another place nearby to augment our hunger. It's very strange why this place gets so many positive reviews. If you're visiting here from out of town and MUST go to "Philippe's," be sure that it's during the daytime.
WONDERFUL
ALWAYS WORTH THE DRIVE, FOOD IS GREAT, MEMORIES JUST AS GOOD, AND THE MUSTARD TO DIE FOR.
