Breakfast gets worse...
By Irongiant2003 on 10/25/2008
They started out on a pretty good foot when they first opened. The fresh fruit with breakfast was fresh and tasty. The omelettes were terrific and looked fresh. The last two times, the fresh fruit looked a few days old and was actually wilted. The omelettes looked like they were rubber food with an odd texture and color. I thought I was the only one to complain but a couple at the next table also noted it looked odd. I asked what was being added to the eggs and they said nothing. We owned restaurants. No matter how you beat or whip eggs, they do not come out with the texture, color or taste of what their omelettes now are. If you like easy parking and a quiet area, this is the place to go. If you want a decent and reasonably priced breakfast, stick to places in Marina Del Rey like Panini or someplace where the eggs still come out smelling and tasting REAL.

This is our first time coming here. I had seen a coupon for their Ribeye so I thought "alright we'll give it a try". We come in and the atmosphere seems pretty cool. We get a seat in the bar area cause it looked interesting. Everyone at the bar was late 30s early 40s and DESPERATE. 3 "ladies" and 3 men not together of course. The cougars were on the prowl. Anyway despite the crazy bar area we kept our table. The decor was comfortable and tasteful. Our server Sarah was very nice. We ordered a bottle of champagne that a guy had to deliver to us (probably because she was underage). Anyway as he was administering our drinks we asked him about the burgers. He says "I don't eat meat". Ok, so I ask him "well which burgers do people usually order the most". He says "Well I don't eat meat, but people order the salmon and tuna a lot". ????huh? Ok obviously he didn't get my question. I gave up. We ordered the ceaser salad to start. My husband and I shared it as we had big entrees coming. They so nicely split the salad for us. ???? Seriously, it was 4 leaves of romaine lettuce - TOTAL. Not 4 leaves a piece, 4 leaves TOTAL. I had 2 leaves and he had 2 leaves. For $9? I'm confused. I have had $9 dinner salads but usually there are some nuts and berries too. We each had 2 leaves of romaine lettuce with dressing squirted in a very artistic fashion all over the lettuce with the some cheese sparingly sprinkled on it. Right, so we get our main courses and I mention to her that I have the coupon for my steak (get a ribeye steak for $16 instead of $26). I wouldn't have thought to try Picnik out except I had come across the coupon. Anyway, Sarah made a face and said she would have to talk to her manager. I'd like to mention that this is the first time since we got our drinks that she's come to our table. She comes back and explains that the coupon says at the bottom that you have to give the coupon when ordering and that the management is very strict because they would have to void out the original steak becaue of taxes. TAXES? HUH? I waited tables back in college and I worked at a chain restaraunt that accepted coupons. There was not any requirement to only accept the coupons when ordered. This seems pretty shifty to me. It sounds more like the manager gets in trouble for having voids so will not make a customer (a new customer) happy by taking the coupon. Anyway, to end my review, we paid full price, the steak & the sweet potatoe fries were pretty good, but not amazing and my husband who considers himself a burger connoisseur had I think some sort of bacon burger (not sure). He said that he's had better. So my recommendation is if you live in the area and you want to eat and get drunk and walk home this place is close enough to do that so...why not? Otherwise there are better choices around.
