The SceneEveryone loves Pink's, from lunching businessmen and penny-pinching families to ravenous club kids at 3am. Even celebrities wait in the perpetual line. Orson Welles used to come once a week and down a dozen chili-cheese dogs. The FoodThe chili-cheese dog is the end-all and be-all of Pink's. A long, thin, 100-percent beef Hoffy is snug in a lightly steamed bun, oozing with chili and topped with a slab of neon-orange cheese--this dog has earned its signature status. But the menu has evolved since its pushcart beginnings; 21 menu items, including mutants such as the pastrami-Reuben dog and the bacon-burrito dog, are worth the risk of indigestion.High Marks"The hot dogs (specially made for them by Hoffy) have that nice pop when you bite into them. Chili had just the right taste to put on a hot dog." (culinaryman, Citysearch user)"I think waiting in line is part of the fun. You get to see and absorb the culture surrounding the hot dog stand." (sincityeater, Citysearch user)"It's a pretty cool place though with a bunch of photos of famous Hollywood stars and just something you need to experience in LA." (juju13es, Citysearch user)Low Marks"Highly overrated...not worth standing in a long line." (Mendy08, Citysearch user)"The biggest complaint is the line, as it's near impossible to find a time where the line isn't long." (brokentrain, Citysearch user)"The dogs are good, but don't expect them to compare to NYC street vendors, Coney Islands, or Weiner Circle in Chicago." (woofer_15, Citysearch user)

Flacid Dogs and Nasty Chili
By Madpinto21 on 11/16/2008
I find it so disheartening to see Pink's on the top of the "best of cheap eats in LA" list. Pink's has long lines, slow service, and tasteless food. If a boiled, rubbery piece of flesh with a glob of gelatinous chili gets your mouth watering, then by all means wait 30 minutes with all the tourists, drunks, and aesthetically challenged for your belly bomb.

Pink's reputation is better than it's hot dogs!
By Emale802 on 11/08/2008
I love hot dogs. I've eaten them all over the country. I'll seek out anyplace I've heard of that serves a good hot dog and give it a try. Pink's unfortunately didn't live up to the hype with my taste buds. If you eat the hot dog by it's self you will discover that it has no taste. It has a little "snap" from the casing...but no taste. The taste comes from the toppings that you order and most of those were bland as well. Sorry Mrs. Pink. I get a kick out of watching the limo's and you dressed in the pink coat directing people outside the stand but the dogs just don't do it for me. I'm only one person and that's my humble opinion.

Good things don't change!
By TaxPower on 11/07/2008
Hey I went to Hollywood High in the sixties and we hung out at Pink's (well and Tommy's) whenever we could. Lines were shorter but the game was the same. It was worth the wait then and still is.......it's a complete deal, not just a meal! The local scene is better to watch than waiting in some lines with a TV going to keep you quiet!! Bring a frisbee, a camera and some patience and make it a fun time!
