In ShortOn trendy Montana Avenue, this neighborhood Indian spot is a popular place for impromptu dates, casual family dinners and post-yoga meals. Candlelit tables, shiny wood floors and Indian music create a comfortable and eclectic dining experience. Pradeep's touts healthy Indian dishes and curries without butter or cream. Lots of vegetarian choices are available, like the fried vegetable samosas and potato pancakes with ginger and green chili.

Authentic and healthy

I grew up on Indian food (my father is from Calcutta and did all the cooking)and I will have to say that Pradeeps is one of my favorite restaurants. His curries are very authentic with spices and I love that I can eat there and not feel like I will gain 5 pounds. The Garlic Nan bread has no butter, yeast, milk, or eggs and is so moist and tasty. The Aloo Mattar, Lamb Vindaloo, and Chicken Masala are my favorites. The Samosas are excellent along with the Chicken Pakora. I am very picky with Indian food and feel this is very authentic.

Indian lite

We ordered in and were going to be charged $7 delivery until I challenged the person who took our order - we live a mile away! I ordered poppadoms, two entrees with rice & a couple of vegetable dishes. I was warned it would be way too much for two but I need not have worried- portions were average to small & poppadoms were cut in half to make six "portions" for $3.50. The chichen tikka marsala was fine - though lacked the lovely creamy texture I enjoy - and the spices were barely distinguishable from those in the daal & whatever else we ordered- I forgot what it was & we were not provided with a print-out. A total of $50-plus bucks badly spent.
