BEST THAI FOOD IN TOWN!
By bleblanc on 09/28/2006
This is a great place for people to go to lunch! Especially if you're in the downtown area and want to try something other than the same old restaurants. You can venture out without traveling too far. The ambience is fantastic and everything on the menu is delicious!

Thai Heaven
By occaptainoats on 08/02/2006
I was very eager to go to this restaurant because I have heard so many good things. As an Angeleno I made the trip to Rambutan Thai and at first I was thrown back because of the location. It is in a strip mall that looks very unattractive. Nevertheless, the phrase "Never judge a book by its cover" as true. The inside of the restaurant was very LA; very Silver Lake and very hip. The Ambiance is a 10. I went for lunch, which is cheaper and included a salad or spring roll. I got Kang Dang Curry with Beef. I am use to Japanese style curry and when I saw it was a liquid I was thrown back but my god this was spicy! I mean Hot and Spicy! It was very delicious and good. The service was great. If you want dessert go to Pazzo Gelato, only a few blocks down.

Worth the trip

Rambutan is easily one of the best Thai restaurants in the city. It has a hip, subdued ambience, and the food is delicious. Try the drunken noodles, the spicy Panang, or any of the Thai tapas... like the tender steamed shrimp and scallop dumplings. And finally, the cocktails (like their Thai version of a mojito) are not to be missed.
