Taylor's rekindles memories of steakhouses in the old days with its low prices and Naugahyde booths. The menu offers classic fare and the steaks, such as the culotte, are cooked to perfection.

A Steak Worthy of Ruth's Chris
By defttouch on 12/20/2006
The full line, by Citiguide's own Editors, quoted from above is: "Where else can you find a steak worthy of Ruth Chris['] or The Palm, but at half the price?" The answer, from our personal experience in fine dining around greater Los Angeles over the past couple of decades is, NO where else. We assume it was simply an oversight on the part of the Editors that Taylor's was not one of the nominees we could select in the 'vote for' the "Best Steakhouse in L.A." We assume oversight, as one sees above, the Editors 'themselves' compare Taylor's to two of the several other outstanding Los Angeles steak houses. Perhaps they were simply being 'kind' to those other fine steak houses actually nominated, each rather 'pricey' competitors of Taylor's, as they may have felt that their OWN review opinion of ". . . at half the price," would give Taylor's an 'unfair advantage' in the voting, over the others. For good reason. We always ask for Tony, who started there years ago, who became an outstanding busman, to be our server, in which role he is now even more outstanding and sees to it that every time we have dinner there, it turns out to be an exceptionally pleasant, most relaxing, genuine 'dining experience.' We thank Taylor's and their generally well-experienced staff for maintaining a high level of service and consistent quality in most everything we've ever ordered there. There are two, absolutely 'mouthwatering' rib-eyes on the menu, one bone-in, either of which is one of our 'usuals,' and is near perfection in tenderness, flavor and 'marbling.' The other of us often has one of the filet mignons and we often 'trade bites' of each other's steak, thereby sort of 'doubling our pleasure.' We obviously recommend this place, in Mid-Wilshire, not far from Wilshire & Western (2 blocks S. & approx. 4-5 blocks E., on the North side of the street).

Tasty & Filling
By pig99 on 01/28/2006
The food is delicious and the staff is very warm & fuzzy. you can splurge at Taylors and not go broke like the other steak houses. The Pan Fried Steak is the most unique hearty meal that I have had and I have never been abe to find another steak house that even prepares it like Taylors. I hope they continue to stay in business as it is the best steak house for your money.
