When the scene at Phoenix Hill Tavern starts to seem a little young, it may be time to switch over to Jim Porters. They're both under the same ownership, but Jim Porters offers a similar concept (many entertainment choices under one roof) for a more mature crowd. A nights entertainment schedule might include dance lessons followed by swing dancing in one room, blues in the other. Theres also a pool hall, a Cubby Hole, an outside terrace and more. In the Phoenix Hill tradition, the 18,000-square foot venue offers three simultaneous live shows on weekends. A number of blues, country and jazz celebs have performed here, including Bo Diddley, B.B. King and Kansas. The dcor is cool and kitschy, featuring Southern bric-a-brac, artwork and memorabilia. -- Lena Katz
