Beale Street proclaims itself to be both the home of the blues and the birthplace of rock 'n' roll. While that debate is probably best left to late-night barflies, the charm of the New Daisy cannot be denied. Beer and wine are both served on site, and the venue happily welcomes all ages to shows. However, because of curfew laws, minors are not allowed to enter the Historic District without a parent or legal guardian from 11PM-6AM. Built in 1937, the theater was a movie theater until the late 1970s. By that time, most of Beale Street had become rundown, until a revival in the mid-1980s brought about a renaissance in the area. Today, the theater welcomes a variety of musical acts. In addition, the space is used for pro boxing, kickboxing, and wrestling. Enjoy the finger foods served as concessions, including hot dogs, nachos and popcorn.

New Daisy Review 06/06/07
By hdethx on 06/08/2007
I have been going to the Daisy since I was 16. Most the bands I have seen live were there and for half the price as other places. It's a pretty cool place but BE WARNED! Some of the staff hired for security IS REALLY POOR QUALITY AND INTELLIGENCE. People get thrown out at the drop of a hat and I'm sorry to say that in about %45 of these cases did they actually break a New Daisy rule that would deserve getting literally THROWN out of the building. Imagine this, your with your wife in which you and her both are above 21 and aren't doing anything special to draw attention to yourselves when suddenly about 3 bouncers grab YOU and hurl you out the door saying they will call the cops if try to get back in. Now I must say that in the 9 years I have been going to the New Daisy that it has only happened to me once. However, I hear about it all the time. Similar stories. Not to say that everyone who gets thrown doesn't deserve it. I have seen everything from hard mash pits at deathmetal concerts at the daisy where maybe 3 were thrown out to lighter rock bands where at least 20 were thrown out. It really is one of the best places in Memphis good rock concerts but the security just did to much speed or something.
