Poplar Lounge   

Besides their world famous burgers and beer, the Poplar Lounge is known for being the kind of place you can hide out in for hours. Come in for a cold one after work, and the next thing you know, it's midnight. With its low-down dingy charm that's straight out of a movie, the bar is home to many of Memphis' favorite musicians, including ZZ Top, who once shot a music video here. Despite the change in locale, Poplar is still the smoky little dive it's always been, making it the perfect place for locals and out-of-towners seeking an unforgettable Memphis experience. -- Nancy Apple
