Dry Rib Heaven??
By mountaindave2008 on 01/21/2008
I wouldn't know since I've only been there twice and I've only eaten there once. The first time we must have gotten there too late because we were served beans that tasted fresh from the can. Reminded me of Van Camp's Pork and Beans, when I was young and my family couldn't afford the good stuff. Also, the bread wasn't what I expected: SANDWICH BREAD?? The second trip we got there and we waited for a whiile for a waiter but no one noticed us until we were leaving. An apologetic gentleman offered us another table but we'd had our fill. Hopefully they treat other people a little better.

Best Brisket
By docjrm502 on 08/14/2007
Never had the dry ribs. Love the brisket and the pulled pork barbecue, though. I like that the restaurant is still in a downtown basement. It is popular enough to have gone more mainstream but frankly, I think the atmosphere completes the experience. I've nevr found the servers to be rude, either. Can't wait to go back!

A Memphis Must
By amberlybts on 08/14/2007
I've read complaints about being rushed in and out. First of all, the Rendezvous is a place to go eat *barbecue*, not a place to go hang out because of the ambience. If the staff moves customers through it is because there are lots of others waiting to experience the barbecue, also. I find the service to be efficient. I also find the food to be all it is promised to be, which is some of the best if not the best barbecue in Memphis. There is a reason for the popularity... and that is great barbecue. If you're looking for a three hour long, candle-lit meal, I'm sorry but that does not pertain to a barbecue joint.
