In an area full of blues joints, overpriced stores and tourist traps, the Rum Boogie Cafe is a sure bet for real Beale flavor. Live music every day goes late into the night, the house is always rockin' with a band, and there's always someone on the dance floor. Music memorabilia is scattered throughout the club, including rare Stax Records collectibles that other clubs on Beale wish they had. Above the stage are guitars autographed by the likes of Albert King, ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The club is multilevel, and the bar area is always congested. Don't hesitate to check out the spiral staircase -- the sound and view upstairs is still good. -- Nancy Apple

RBC Oldie

I found Rum Boogie shortly after it opened and it has remained my favorite in Memphis. The BBQ ribs and Cajun food are EXCELLENT!! The employees are GREAT!! Out of towners were with me during the International Blues Festival and fell in love with the place. (Watermelon Slim played) Don't forget their 'annex' next door, a tiny hallway with some of the best music of the Festival. (adult only....you can smoke) Your neck will start hurting from looking at all the autographed guitars hanging from the ceiling.

Annual Trip
By CarGolfSup on 06/06/2008
Every year for 10 years I had a business trip to Arkansas. I drove out and spent the night in Memphis. After I found the Rum Boogie, that was it. No more searching for a place to eat. This was my only place. The food was always great, prices were fair, the atmosphere was super and music was just right. I don't get to go out on this trip any more, but I plan to visit at least once a year. Some things you have to experience to understand. I have even taken my wife there to see for herself what it was like. Keep up the good work and thanks for the memories.
