In an area full of blues joints, overpriced stores and tourist traps, the Rum Boogie Cafe is a sure bet for real Beale flavor. Live music every day goes late into the night, the house is always rockin' with a band, and there's always someone on the dance floor. Music memorabilia is scattered throughout the club, including rare Stax Records collectibles that other clubs on Beale wish they had. Above the stage are guitars autographed by the likes of Albert King, ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The club is multilevel, and the bar area is always congested. Don't hesitate to check out the spiral staircase -- the sound and view upstairs is still good. -- Nancy Apple

Great Band
I enjoyed the music and the food. Their band and the singers are the greatest. I know two of the singers in the band. Every place they would sing, my husband and I would follow them. The lead singer, James Govan and Billy have great voices. James can sing songs that other singers sang much better. I've never known anyone that could sing like Otis Redding but he sounds just like him.
I will only go listen to one band downtown
Elmo&The Shades...very entertaining, fun and full of good music, featuring some of thetop players in memphis and in the world for that matter doing what memphis is famous for in the traditional way. if you haven't seen this band they make your trip to beale street worth it.
RBC Oldie
I found Rum Boogie shortly after it opened and it has remained my favorite in Memphis. The BBQ ribs and Cajun food are EXCELLENT!! The employees are GREAT!! Out of towners were with me during the International Blues Festival and fell in love with the place. (Watermelon Slim played) Don't forget their 'annex' next door, a tiny hallway with some of the best music of the Festival. (adult only....you can smoke) Your neck will start hurting from looking at all the autographed guitars hanging from the ceiling.
