Another chain
Corky's has turned in to "Just another chain store" The food is the same no matter which one you go to.
Prices are high for the food quantity and quality. The name keeps it in business plus the web, FedEx shipping.
Go to a Chicks game and pay $9 for BBQ Nachos (a little chips, cheese, BBQ sauce and look for the pork)
Good but not the best
We enjoy barbeque and make a point of visiting the local spots whenever we travel. During our most recent visit to Memphis, we stopped in at Corkys. I had eaten at the airport stop many years ago and enjoyed the combo plate, but it was a first time for my wife.
I really dont care much for the décor unless it is something really exceptional and the Corkys locale in Collierville is the typical rock n roll heaven with the celebrity picture wall.
So lets talk about the food. We ordered the chopped pork sandwich with sides of beans and the onion loaf. The loaf was good, but nothing exceptional. Our plates arrived very soon after that. The sandwiches were well proportioned for the price. The meat was moist and tender with the accompanying sauce well flavored. The beans were acceptable, but can be improved by adding a variety of styles and textures as well as some additional flavoring. Otherwise, I couldnt tell the difference from canned.
Service was very good, but we were the last of the lunch crowd with no other diners following us.
I would like to believe that the ribs would also be good based on the sampling of the chopped pork.
Couple of other notes: Cloth napkins were on the table and simple out of place with the oilcloth tablecloths, especially with something as sloppy as barbecue. I like have a roll of papertowels nearby when dining. It also seems out of place with the plastic dishes.
I understand that Corkys is regularly rated highly in the market with the best ribs. However, my vote has to go to the Commissary where the everything is a bit better including the sides.
Bottom line: We would probably eat there again.
not too bad!
tasty, not bad at all...reasonable...freindly service Unlike Rendezvous

We visit Corky's about 4 times a year and find the food to be good. Maybe a little expensive. We also ship ribs to customers all over the country and have never received a bad remark. Corky's does a good job.
