Taking things to the next level, the creators of Opium Garden developed Prive, a sub-club within their nightlife complex that is devoted solely to the creme de la creme. This ultra-exclusive cocktail lounge caters predominately to the fashionably elite or multimillionaires willing to pay for bottle service. Formerly a dimly-lit, hip-hop section of Opium Garden, the space has been completely transformed into a shimmery glam-scene complete with reflective surfaces of blue and orange. Low-profile sofas and tables dominate most of the 3,000 square-foot floor and offer perfect perches from which to see and be seen. Even though you'll hear the latest body-rockin' Euro-dance music, Prive is more about seeing who's who than showing off funky moves. You'll feel like you're hanging out in an upscale loft apartment. The room is sexy and comfortable, distinguished primarily by bold black-and-white Helmut Newton photographs that serve as the primary decor. Expect to mingle with top models, celebrities and movie and record producers. Reservations are a must. -- Monica Cady

Sad story

I went there with a whole group of people in May of 2007. I had no idea this was going to be a Paris Hilton type of event. There were red ropes, long lines, very different type of atmosphere. Apparently this was a very exclusive night because the boucers picked out the people they wanted inside and told a few people we don't want you here. It was very unpleasant, but the few friends who did get in said it was nice inside. I've never been rejected from a club and never from one I really didn't want to go into but I will never go there again.

A place for the elite

We have been doing prive on average twice a week for the past few months and we have yet to get bored. Their bottle service is a bit steep, but no more really than anywhere else. Check your bill at the end of the night and keep an eye out for a waiter named Angel... pick someone else to be your server. The women are gorgeous and the staff couldn't be nicer. If you were going to pick a club on the beach to drop real money... this would be the place. Valet your car in the front, or you may be taking a taxi home. Bring your buiness card kids, you meet some of the wealthiest Miami has to offer... great place to network. When you get sick of Prive, run over to mansion. Any connections you make at Prive will help you there too.

I went on a Thursday in Jan, just walked up to the front and had no problem getting in; in fact, both my friend and I were comp'd in. It was decorated very nice and high class looking, but the people inside weren't so great. My friend and I were probably two of the best looking, best dressed girls there, which I found surprising because hey, its South Beach. Nice lounge atmosphere early but the DJ was no good, so we left around 2:00 am. If you are looking to dance and go nuts, i recommend Mansion. Maybe Prive is better on a weekend night. I do have to admit though, when we first got there we did feel "privileged" ;)
