Part of the Miami landscape since 1971, Versailles is the classic Cuban restaurant. Attracting the old-timers discussing Fidel, as well as the young generation tired of hearing about it, Versailles is part of the quintessential Latin scene. It's so popular that no local politician wanting the Latin vote would dare run for office without making this stop on a vote-seeking tour. But what fills seats? It's the tasty food, reasonable prices and authentic "neighborhood joint" ambience. Take your pick of some of its specialties, including arroz con pollo (chicken and rice casserole) served with fried plantains and bistec de palomilla (skirt steak) served with rice, black beans and fried plantains. If you're after a little to-go jolt of caffeinated energy, be sure to head to the most popular walk-up counter in Miami for some tasty espressos or cafe con leches. Insiders' Tip: If you have a sweet tooth, head next door to Versailles Bakery for a selection of pastelitos (pastries filled with guava, cream cheese or both), empanadas and cookies. -- Marivi Iglesias

The Worst
By ANT082602 on 07/10/2008
The food has gone way down in quality, the place is dirty, and the service is aweful. As stated above, the majority of the customers attending are old timers talking politics, bad mouthing Fidel, and this country. I'm sorry, but that's not a good quality restaurant environment. TERRIBLE!!!! Try Sergio's instead, much better quality food and prices.

This place is a MUST place to eat every time we visit Miami. Now live in Boca Raton, but this restaurant is a definite complement to the city of Miami. Gerry
