The sensuality of Kama Sutra has been transferred from the bedroom to the kitchen at Tantra. Executive Chef, Maurad Ali creates a fusion of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and French flavors, but all together described as aphrodisiac cuisine meant to stimulate all the senses. With a real grass floor -- no Astroturf here -- and starlit ceilings, Tantra is inviting from the minute you enter: Diners are beckoned with sultry -- though loud -- house music and belly dancers slither around, all of which transports you from midnight on South Beach to midnight at the oasis. But this journey doesn't come cheap. The succulent filet mignon weighs in at an astounding $52. Other dishes, such as the Tantra Love Apple, a ripe tomato layered with Laura Chenel goat cheese and basil oil and garnished with pomegranate seeds, and the Nine Jewel Indian Spiced Rack of Lamb, don't come cheap either. But for a unique dining experience in an atmosphere like no other in Miami, Tantra is a worthy investment of your time, your tastebuds and your money. -- Lesley Abravanel

Terrible Experience
By josue0907 on 06/07/2007
I just had to place a comment when I was overviewing others. I went to this restaurant back in 2004 and I will never go there again. I experienced the worst service and worst food ever. I left with stomach pains. The food was terrible and overpriced. The place is also crowded leaving no place to walk or stand. Horrible experience.

Way Overrated!!!!!!!
By xxrigor0313xx on 02/15/2006
Valentine's Day 2006. I read the reviews and it seemed like a good place to go, something new. The bar was small, decided to order 2 martinis while waiting, price was $30. Table was also small (4 people). Looked at the wine list and it was ok, prices a little high but reasonable (I rather pay $100 for a bottle of wine that $15 for a martini). Finally got to the menu and it wasn't very big 1 page about the restaurant, 1 for martinis, another for appetizers (around 6-8 to choose: the lobster I think stood out), and the last page for the entrees (around 6 to choose from). The prices for appetizers ranged from around $18 - $25. The entrees from $35-$49 ($69 for lobster and $97 filet mignon with lobster). It was around 11:00pm so we really didn't want to get any appetizers wound up getting the lobster soup for my girlfriend. The soups wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either; a little cold and sweet my girlfriend didn't like it rest of the table tried it but none wanted it. The waitress asked what was wrong with it, with attitude. At the end she took it off the check even though we were going to pay for it just not eat it. Finally the main course, 3 of us choosed the filet mignon and another the salmon. The filet mignon was cooked ok and the mash was very good different than other places, but ultimately not worth the $45. The salmon wasn't as good though an the rice that came with it was burnt (not sure if is supposed to be like that but it wasn't good), at the end it wasn't a good dish. Food was average so decided to get a dessert only had one that day "Romeo and Juliet" well it was the worst dessert i think I've had in a restaurant especially when is the only to choose from. Overall the ambience was ok (not lively but ok) not as described though, food average, and prices thorough the roof. Place not worth it.

HORRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE
By littleh75 on 09/06/2005
Food is mediocre and way overpriced. Service is poor and management is even worse. Expect to eat what they give you and don't make any complaints about the food because they won't be accomodating. I will never go back and will continue to tell everyone I know to never go there as well. Better off going anywhere else but here.
