Called Club Boom before the summer of 2002, Walker's Point's newly named Boom has quieted down quite a bit by replacing its once popular dance floor with a simple pool table. Though music videos still play on an assortment of televisions throughout the place, Boom owner David Panek admits the changes were to evoke a cozier, neighborhood bar atmosphere. Friendly to those of the straight persuasion, Boom is still proud of its mostly gay clientele with two large rainbow flags waving over its front door. A large bar spans almost the entire length of the building and showcases several libations, as well as close to 30 different brands of bottled beer. In the warmer months, Boom also hosts a fully equipped and enchanting outdoor patio. Thursday nights bring in a good crowd with the bar's 2-for-1 drink specials, and on Sunday nights, when the HBO series 'Queer As Folk' runs, it can be difficult to find a seat. -- Rachael Liska

Boom Is THE Bar!

We Have Been Going To Boom, For 1 year Now, I Love The Atmosphere, The Bartenders Always Make You Feel Welcome. & I Think Its Great That The Owner, Always Remembers Your Name, & What Your Drinking, The Music Is great, Its Fun To Just Play Pool, or Shoot darts, The Staff Is Great, And We Meet New Friends, All The Time, Thats Why Boom Is Our Home Bar. If You Don't Try It , you Will Never Know. Kudo's Too BOOM & The ROOM.

Had a great time at boom/The Room. Met some friends out and spent most of our night at The Room. Great martinis and good prices. The lighted bar is really cool...a step up from the typical Milwaukee gay bar. As far as the listing where the person "was looking for a friendly place where I could sit and enjoy my beer and some conversation with my friends" and claimed they didnt find it here...must of been thier own fault! Shouldn't need a bar or a bartender to make your night out with friends a good time. Get some new friends!!

Place sucks

Doom is right. The staff are crack heads and they bring in washed up porn stars to entertain. Save your money and hit up La Cage or Fluid or if your into pig sex check out Boot Camp or Harbor Room. The Room and Boom should be avoided at all times.

Yes... Call it DOOM

The attitude of the staff is dark to say the least. I was looking for a friendly place where I could sit and enjoy my beer and some conversation with my friends. I didn't find it there -- AT ALL. We went to City Lights farther south and found it welcoming, warm and the staff actually TALK to people! DOOM needs to change it's act.
