Intimate little bar
By jp02124 on 09/06/2006
What's not to recommend it? It's attractive, clean, parking is easy, the bartender was nice, the prices are fair..... It's not exactly a twink bar, but then not everyone's a twink. It rates an "excellent."

BOOM and The ROOM are likely the cleanest and friendliest gay bars in Milwaukee. Ive been to all of them and compared them in size, style, attitude, price, and friendly bartenders. They win my Vote.

Very Friendly Staff at Room
By corybroker on 12/31/2005
I was shocked to read the review from someone who didn't like the staff at Boom. I have to ask myself if there has been a turnover in staff, because the bartenders there took a genuine interest, and were very entertaining. Not to mention, there was never a dirty ashtray; they emptied them continuously, and were very attentive. And I don't know what this person ordered, but my Jack Daniel's and Diet Coke was $4.25, not $8.00, although someone in our party did order a very generously sized martini and it was $9.00. I thought that seemed reasonable for a city the size of Milwaukee. The bar was spotless, and so were the bathrooms...finally, a (gay) bar that doesn't look like it should be on the health department's frequent violations list! I would be inclined to say, give Boom (and it's sister bar that I visited, The Room) a try. It sure beats sitting in the other dumpy bars in Milwaukee amongst peanut shells, filth, outdated decor and tacky disco balls.
