Just as people have a specific person in mind for a flower, they have a specific flower in mind for a person. This compact store has built a reputation for carrying Holland flowers, and, to be sure, if you look at the magnificent stems soaking in water in the cooler, you might think B by B had cornered the market. The loveliest things in stock are the tulips, daisies, calla lilies, freesia and snapdragons. Yet that might downplay the roses, mixed flower bouquets and all the good-natured puttering and arranging your friendly florist does around the shop. On the shelves, basking in sunlight, are precious $40 orchids. For more mundane tastes, there are petite pots of purple violets and enough shoots of green houseplant leaves to create a mini greenhouse.

Don't be fooled by the size of the shop.It could be a drive-by, but place an order for that most important event and you will not be disappointed. The flowers are fresh and fab. They have been very pleasant. I don't know if they sing to their buds but they must be doing something right. Anything you want. I don't do offbeat, although I may think of it in the future. It's no English garden -- but it's close. I had a centerpiece delivered for a party that was not what I ordered and they picked it up, changed it and delivered it without a whimper, at least that I heard, and that is what counts.
