If your idea of Mexican food is enchiladas drowned in cheese and gravy, tacos stuffed with ground meat and iceburg lettuce, or the drive thru at Taco Bell, this spirited eatery on Milwaukee's East Side is probably not the place for you. But if you're craving a fiesta of the senses, than you've most certainly come to the right spot. It's hard to believe you are still in Milwaukee once you walk through this restaurant's doors and gaze upon the eclectic artwork and blue, pink and yellow walls. With a tasting menu of more than 60 tequilas as well as one of the best margaritas this city has to offer, Cempazuchi's menu takes you on a delicious tour of the best that Mexico has to offer. Dishes are authentic and hail from the regions of Oaxaca, Veracruz and Mexico City. Try the Tacos de Tio Israel, a plate of three perch tacos rolled in organic blue cornmeal with lime slaw and chipotle mayo. Or, order the Manchamantel, a grilled chicken breast served in a sweet-sour fruit mole with pear, apple, plantain and sweet potato. -- Rachael Liska

Terrible food & service
By ascomil on 05/14/2006
6 of us had dinner two fridays ago and for the second and now last time, it was horrible food and service (We were the 6 in the west window). Portions on the steak tacos was actually the joke of the evening, not to metion the service of our waiter who just seemed too hip for his own good. Having grown up in the Southwest and grew up on authentic mexican food, this is an absolute sham. I will never step foot in the place again and we are not alone!

amazing torta!
By amacord on 07/05/2005
We had an excellent lunchtime experience - I had one of the best sandwiches ever at Cempazuchi! I highly recommend the torta cubana - the crunchy pork and bacon combination was such an unexpected variation. I have been dreaming about it ever since and trying (in vain) to recreate it at home in Honolulu.

Yummy and different

I have had a great experience each of last few times I've been to Cempazuchi. The frest fruit margaritas are really tasty, not the typical slush. The best nachos in town are here and have chorizo and black beans on them! Yum!
