While Linneman's has recently begun to diversify its roster of musicians, the heart and soul of this Riverwest tavern will always be acoustic music. Many local musicians with muses ranging from folk to blues to pop have found Linneman's the warmest-sounding room in town and perform here regularly. Sure, it's a bit of a dive, but the sound system is top-notch and the owner spends extra time dialing in the musicians, ensuring that every drop of an acoustic guitar's wet-sounding b flat is wrung dry and every scratchy chunk of a singer's blues captured. The bar's intimate interior, with a classic old school Milwaukee bar design might keep the hipsters at bay, but will appeal to anyone with a soft spot for classic architecture. When bands aren't playing, Linneman's also offers the occasional poetry reading or drink special.
