The Dish: In 1981, a few lads from Ohio had the hankering for New York-style wild wings but didn't want to make the trek to the Big Apple. So instead, they opened their own joint, focusing on all the comforts sports fans find dear: wild wings, chicken tenders and other finger foods, an ambitious tap of domestics, ales, lagers and stouts (with a number of great food and drink specials) and plenty of big screens for watching the game. By 1982, the franchise was up and running; today there are locations in 27 states and counting. The Atmosphere: The majority of visitors to Buffalo Wild Wings head straight for the bar's friendly and inviting atmosphere, which is filled with a mostly 40-and-under crowd, equal parts sports fans and trivia buffs. The walls are adorned with sports memorabilia, and big screens are aided by banks of smaller TVs clustered in the corners.
