Milwaukee offers plenty of places to get beer, but how many offer a wide selection of Belgian beers, along with tasty food in a relaxed cafe atmosphere? In German, Brucke means ''bridge,'' an appropriate name for the cafe's location a few steps down from the bridge over the bike trail on Prospect Avenue. Cafe Brucke offers a wide selection of imported Belgian beers along with some unique wine or liquor drinks. The menu doesn't offer much selection -- mainly side dishes, sandwiches and a special -- but the choices are excellent. Anyone looking to dine outside at Cafe Brucke is invited to bring his or her own blanket, and sit on the sidewalk for a unique urban picnic experience. The smoke free atmosphere is a welcome relief from the stale air of most Milwaukee bars, while the old world style of the building adds nicely to Brucke's European vibe. It's easy to squint your eyes and pretend you're drinking somewhere in Brussels.
