Rate and Write a Review Mimma's might evoke the most dichotomous reaction of any dining spot among local restaurant-goers. The Italian restaurant has been recognized numerous times in local and national magazines, but still draws criticism from some locals who claim that it's overpriced and has an unsavory air of self-satisfaction. Don't form your opinion until you've tried at least a few items on the extensive menu. The choices include as wide a selection of pasta dishes as you'll find anywhere in Milwaukee, ranging from relative basics -- like cannelloni stuffed with ham and Ricotta cheese, or meat-filled ravioli with grilled peppers and Italian sausage -- to more adventurous selections such as crab, shrimp and salmon-filled ravioli in a cream sauce or shell pasta with chicken sausage in a cream sauce flavored with rosemary and tomato. Mimma's is the place to go if you prefer your pasta with seafood or fish, but good luck choosing from lobster, salmon, scallops, mussells or clams with your ravioli, angel hair or bowtie. Mimma's was the first upscale spot to embrace Brady Street when it made the difficult transformation from artsy (and sometimes shady) to trendy and hip (but with a decidedly Bohemiam influence). While sitting in the posh comfort of the restaurant you can gaze on to the cast of characters walking by Mimma's large windows. Regardless of what others say, try it first, and then judge. And save room for dessert -- if you can -- the choices are delectable.
