Yen Ching is consistently a favorite Chinese restaurant choice for locals. The dark, ornate woodwork and the decorative Ming accents by the entrance foreshadow the exotic flavors inside. The menu features a wide variety of soups and appetizers, and the main course includes beef, shrimp, poultry and vegetable dishes. The cucumber and sizzling rice soup is a nice alternative to the obligatory egg drop and hot-and-sour varieties. Perennial Chinese favorites, such as cashew chicken and Mongolian beef, abound -- but don't be afraid to try the more eclectic Chinese delicacies also featured on the menu. Be adventurous and go for a dish like the Imperial Deluxe with sea cucumbers. An ample number of dishes for vegetarians also grace the menu and the staff is more than willing to substitute tofu for meat in many of the entrees. -- Allison Jornlin

Next best thing to China

I've been going to Yen Ching for as long as I can remember, and I've never been disappointed. I've sampled nearly everything on the menu and I've had no complaints. The service is quick and friendly, and great for a quick lunch, or an intimate dinner.

I must admit. I didn't know how good shrimp in lobster could be until I had the entree at Yen Ching's.

I've never had a bad meal here. Also, it has the best hot and sour soup of anyplace I've ever visited.
