Del Monte Golf Course, which was built in 1897 by golf and polo man Charles Maud, is the oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi. Del Monte was the original host of the California State Amateur, which is still played on the course's narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens. The course is also one of three that host the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational. Prepare yourself for the seventh hole, which is a difficult uphill par four. It's the most difficult on the entire course. Del Monte has a pro shop, naturally, as well as the recently renovated Del Monte Grill, which serves casual fare, such as burgers and sandwiches, and a full bar.
