When this local pizza joint first opened in the late '80s, it served pizzas with bizarre and exotic toppings like ostrich meat, shark and buffalo. Today it's grown to almost nine locations, and the list of toppings is longer than many local wine lists. Filet mignon, teriyaki chicken, roast beef, salami, hot cherry peppers, water chestnuts, chopped dill pickles, bamboo shoots, coconut, peaches, oranges and pears are just a few of the 150 toppings to choose from on these gourmet pizzas. Create your own wacky combination, or order one of their specialty pizzas, which are named after cities on the west coast of California. The Sacramento is topped with spicy smoked sausage, feta cheese, sweet yellow corn, green onions, Monterey Jack cheese and sprinkled with thyme. There's even a dessert pizza smeared with apple butter and baked with Granny Smith apples, walnuts, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon and cheddar cheese for flavor. Toppings are fresh and the dough - whole wheat rosemary and white Italian - is fresh. The pizzas are gourmet, and so are the prices - some pizzas run up to $15 each.
