The Loews Vanderbilt Plaza just completed an $8 million renovation, and it shows. The nicest hotel near the Vanderbilt campus is now even nicer with more luxurious rooms and larger conference space. Loews houses the elite visitors to the university, as well as Joe College who comes to town for a Commodores football game. Located within walking distance of some of Nashville's finest restaurants, Loews is close to downtown but still far enough to avoid the traffic. The lobby boasts three-story high ceilings and is flooded with white light from the high, ornate lamps. Each guestroom has a dual line phone and stocked refrigerator. More than 17,000 feet is designated for corporate, family and entertainment functions, and the hotel can serve groups up to 1,000. If you don't want to leave the hotel to eat, the Plaza Grill boasts an eclectic menu sure to satisfy any member of the group. -- Ben Scott
