Sam's Sports Bar & Grill   

Quite possibly the most popular place for Vanderbilt students to watch sports, Sam's has enjoyed follow-on patronage from its predecessor Jonathan's. Sam Sanchez and Al Thomas took over the bar and changed little except for the name. Serving standard bar food such as pizza, hamburgers and sandwiches, Sam's attracts a young college crowd looking to get away from the dorm and mingle with peers and Nashville residents. Sam's manages to stay crowded throughout the week, often using local radio DJs, contests and drink specials to attract business. The large glass garage doors in front are rolled up when the weather permits and the fun going on inside is contagious -- passers by often cannot help but stop in to check out the action. -- Daniel Kuninsky
