Going to Cafe 123, one of the Faison family's five themed establishments in Nashville, is like stepping into a perfectly preserved restaurant of the past. The brick walls and antique mahogany bar fit with background music straight out of the 1930s and '40s. Southern elegance defines the food and service; the menu combines specialties like the crab crawfish egg roll and the New Orleans Under Fire, which includes pasta, shrimp, scallops and lobster in a Cajun sauce. Live music is a regular occurrence, and people often dine at Cafe 123 to be seen by the local traffic on 12th Ave. After finishing a relaxing dinner, many diners will head downtown (just a few blocks away) or across the street to 12th & Porter, a restaurant and bar also owned by the Faison family. -- Daniel Kuninsky
