Don't let the generic name fool you. This has been a historic and infamous Magazine Street hangout since the glory days when it was called Miss Mae's. It's thick with an atmosphere all its own. Locals of all stripes mix and match here -- bikers, artists, students and some folks of downright questionable origin! The bar and tables provide seating up front, and pool and darts are in the back. It's a little short on space in back, but you'll rub elbows with some real local characters. A straight shot from Tipitina's Uptown, it's a popular place to tune up for the show on any night of the week as well as a famous last stop on weekends. Drinks are always strong and cheap, there's no clock, no credit, no daylight and the place never closes.

Can't wait to visit Ms. Mae's again when I go home next month. Cheap drinks, a grabbin' machine, and plenty of that local flavor I miss so much. Come and see some local color--like me for instance, I'm mauve.

I have no idea if people read this, but the Club is alive and well. I have been there since the hurricane. Can't beat $1 drinks.
