Locals usually regard chain franchises (especially those in the French Quarter) like they would an outbreak of Yellow Fever; New Orleanians are nothing if not provincial. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, however, is one of the few name bar/restaurants to have earned a degree of acceptance. Set in the historic (and once-notorious) Storyville district, this Parrothead hangout is of course geared to fans of the laconically semi-bohemian singer-songwriter; the menu actually encourages you to order ''Boat Drinks'' or a ''Cheeseburger in Paradise.'' This club's secret, however, is its willingness to harbor local artists, ensconcing several of the city's most iconoclastic performers in weekly gigs. You can enjoy folk-blues artist John Fohl or roots rocker Lynn Drury as you wait to see if the head Parrothead himself will show up and play (it's been known to happen). Modeled after his original Key West bar, Margaritaville offers something for everyone, whether you're actively looking for a Livingston Saturday Night or otherwise. -- Robert Fontenot, Jr.

Food is usually good. Beer is cold and there is usually some live music going on.

dont do it. simply put, no person should ever eat here. drinks are so so. why even waste your time except during parade (large balcony)when there are better food places and cheaper drinks a block off rue decatur.

Been here several times and enjoyed the place. Friendly service and relaxing atmosphere.
