good but not great

I skipped a meal to prepare for the Feed Me selection. Even then, I could not eat all of what they offered. Each of the four of us ordered the Feed Me, and as a result we got a total of 13 different dishes. A few were excellent, most were very good, and a few were just plain. At $44, it is a rather expensive indulgence. You may want to try it one time just for the experience, but as one of my dinner companions bloatedly remarked when they finally served us the entree, "If there's a God in heaven, they won't serve dessert." (They didn't.) You may be better off just ordering what you want from the menu. The food rated three stars, but the excellent service (we were their first customers) bumped it to four. For south Louisiana, Tony's is a good restaurant, but it is not in the same category as the best dining establishments in this area.

A True New Orleans Gem
By ZYDECO59 on 02/02/2009
I have been coming to New Orleans for Jazz festival for 12 years now & Tony Angelo's is always one of my very top places to hit. It's not just lunch or dinner, it's more like a visit to an old friends house that you haven't seen in a long time & Lord have mercy can this man cook! This is a place that does so much food for the natives that I don't think they advertise or work with the hotel information services. When you get there you would swear you were going to someone's house. Once inside, plan on 30-45 minutes at the bar before dinner & you will be glad you did it. Justin & the rest of the bar staff are witty, friendly & quick to the task of pouring of a quality cocktail or glass of wine for you. All of Tony's friends & guests have there pictures lining the bar room walls & by this time I would think that they may have run out of space in their. When sitting down to dine, I have never had a server that wasn't knowledgeable, Professional, & quick to the task of "Feeding Me". Unless you are a real food fuss or allergic to certain things you have to tell your waiter "FEED ME". It is the most unique dining experience I have ever encountered & no one walks away from the table hungry. The dishes are fabulous & you never know whats coming next! My all time favorite is the deep fried artichoke. So make plans to do it when you get to the Crescent City & make sure to block off 2-3 hours because it truly is an event all in itself. Kudos to you,Tony!
