Price Per Person: $1-$10 Blue Plate Special: Grilled burgers, hot dogs, thick malts and ice cold beer. The Dish: Bud's Broiler seems to have only one main hallmark -- its barbecue pit. Everything is grilled to order with a taste more reminiscent of a backyard barbecue than a fast food joint. The food here is an old-fashioned delight -- those looking for ''fat-free'' and bottled water need not enter. The menu consists mainly of burgers and hotdogs with chicken and fish sandwiches, as well as the specialty chili-cheese fries. It also serves thick malts and bottled beer to wash down the food. The Atmosphere: Often referred to by locals as ''The Double-B,'' Bud's is a bare-bones establishment of concrete walls, industrial-tiled floors and stained-wood picnic tables. Some locations have jukeboxes and video poker machines, as well as regular lunch crowds of both blue- and white-collar workers. It's mainly an eat-and-go establishment that places more priority on the grill than ambiance. -- Craig Guillot

I used to eat at Buds 3 or 4 times a week. But after pulling stringy matter from my teeth on more than one occasion I've had to find burgers elsewhere. Also suspisous is the lack of any referance to 100% beef anywhere on menu , just meat? Inquiries at several locations went unanswered. I miss the Buds of yesteryear !
