Carousel Bar   

Located downtown in the Monteleone Hotel, the bar is decorated like an old-time carousel, and the bar and the barstools actually rotate while you sit. The rotating bar was first installed in 1949 but was renovated in 1992 when the current carousel top was added. While the bar always rotates at the same speed, those who have been imbibing for a while often claim that the bartender has turned up the motor. For those who prefer not to spin while they drink, there are stationary tables nearby. In addition to the rotating bar, the adjoining room features quiet booths and tables where live entertainment is offered nightly at the piano. And if you arrive at just the right time during the cocktail hour, you can enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres from the famous Monteleone kitchen. The bar is also known for two drinks invented by Carousel bartenders: The Goody and the Vieux Carre Cocktail.
