Rays 9, Red Sox 1 (Read Recap | Check Box Score)
B.J. Upton and the Rays pulled off a stunner in Game 3 of the ALCS, battering Boston ace Jon Lester to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Upton went deep for the fifth time this postseason as Tampa Bay routed the Red Sox.

Evan Longoria also struck a big blow -- clearing the Green Monster in left field with a three-run homer in Tampa Bay's four-run second inning.

Because of the manner of defeat, the Red Sox appear to be reeling. Lester hadn't allowed an earned run in his two previous starts in the playoffs, but now that their best pitcher has been knocked around, the Sox must turn to Tim Wakefield or Daisuke Matsuzaka just to send the series back to Tampa Bay for Game 6.

Matt Garza struggled in his first postseason start against the White Sox in the ALDS, but he was terrific in Game 3, taking advantage of a generous strike zone to shut down the Red Sox for six innings.

In a particularly satisfying personal moment, Rocco Baldelli joined the home run parade to help the Rays put the game out of reach. Baldelli has battled numerous injuries over the past few years and was diagnosed with a mitochondrial disorder before this season.
