With a name that conjures up safari-like images, the bi-level club Cheetah is an oasis in an urban jungle. From the leopard print seats to the velvet couches to the fire-red walls and ceilings, everything about this club encourages you to take a walk on the wild side -- and if the decor doesn't get you there, the fierce hip-hop will. The club's lower level is all about the dance floor, and the thumping bass is liable to make your heart treble. Upstairs, meanwhile, is all about finding lust, if not love. Fortunately, Cheetah is an equal opportunity feline: During the week, it's a haven for the hetero set; on Saturday nights, the longtime party Asseteria offers something cheeky for Chelsea boys. Cheetah is also a great spot for events, which is why the owners keep it closed on Tuesday nights so private parties can get their groove on without outside interference. -- Leonard Jacobs
