The two locations of this Manhattan sports bar aren't exactly mirror images of each other; they're more like identical twins in different outfits. Both have everything you want in a sports bar, if what you want from a sports bar is beer, grub and a TV set within easy view from any spot in the place. The 40-inch big screens dominate the scene, but there are smaller sets hanging over the bar. Though Blondies (which, incidentally, gets its name from the two blonde ladies, one a former Playboy model, who own the joint) makes a great local, the home teams on the tube are not necessarily from around here -- the bars are the home away from home for rooters of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Nittany Lions of Penn State and even a mini-Dawg Pound of Cleveland Browns fans. Mondays bring all-you-can-eat wings -- a real draw during football season. The menu leans toward heavy, greasy, fried, meaty treats, but there are a few salads and even a crudite platter which, in true sports bar fashion, can be ordered in a giant party size. If you're really throwing caution to the wind, try the smothered wafer fries, which come nacho-style, topped with cheese, chili, jalapeno and sour cream.

Blondies...now Maurice Clarett
By jon409640 on 11/06/2006
Just like the once-great Maurice Clarett, Blondie's was a great place to eat wings and drink beers with friends. Now, profit is the clear driver, the old charm is gone. For beer at strip club prices ($5.50 per Corona), emaciated wings, and sad salads, try Blondies. They put a lot of money into flat screens, cut the quality of the food and raised the prices...New Yorkers are too smart for that.

this has been my favorite place for many years, their buffalo wings are the best and their fryes are excellent.
