"ENTER," commands the sign out front. This popular Hoboken gay bar occupies a handy and highly prominent position just off the main drag, close to the PATH station and a stone's throw from buckets of good dining options. The place itself isn't exactly fancy -- a beat-up, wood-paneled exterior accoutered with neon and the requisite rainbow flags, concealing an open space for drinking cheap drafts, mingling, picking up guys and (for the unself-conscious) dancing. Buff and cross-dressing deejays with names like Big Blanche, Eddie Love, and Johnny FeelGood spin the tunes, while male revues of go-go dancers parade their wares. Not exactly sure how this is supposed to represent the finest gay culture has to offer, but there you have it.

What did they win ???

This place is pretty good but when it comes to NJ clubs Paradise is the best. Plus if you came this far , spend the 6 bucks for the toll or even less for the PATH train and hit the city. The Village and Chelsea is only minutes away

Cover?

I had just missed my train to the 'burbs by minutes (thank you PATH) and remembered this bar was nearby. So I wandered over to have a drink and kill an hour until the next train when I was informed at the door that I would have to pay a $5 cover to enter. I could understand if there was entertainment or a killer dance floor with a fabulous light show, but this was not the case. A previous reviewer commented on the friendly staff, but I just didn't see it. The bar wasn't very busy, especially for a Saturday night, yet after 10 minutes of being ignored by one bartender I walked to the other side of the bar and waited nearly 5 minutes for the other to serve me. So I now found myself with less than 45 minutes to enjoy my 11 dollar drink, not a pleasant experience. In all fairness, maybe people were still adjusting to the new statewide no-smoking laws (there were a few women at the bar who complained about it the whole time I was there!) but still in all I agree that there are way better bars and clubs just a few minutes by PATH train in the west village and chelsea, many of which don't charge a cover and the one's that do are worth it.
