The owners of The Dark Room bring a similar paint-by-numbers posh sensibility to their new Lower East Side club, The Annex. The space is medium-sized and laid out over two levels, with a third, the basement, to be finished by summer '06. There are DJ spaces on both floors; the upstairs is cozy and ideal for small groups, while downstairs has a stage and dancing area in addition to the bar. The club has most of the new millennia's luxe nightspot hallmarks: an unmarked entrance, overbearing bouncers, pressed-tin ceilings and '30s-esque brown leather booths. It is chiefly notable as the new residence of longtime Brit-inflected party Tiswas, which it hosts Saturday nights, but it is also gaining a reputation as an after-show hang for Bowery Ballroom acts.
