Our restaurant was a beautiful atmosphere. I bet a ton of money was spent on remodeling an old pre-war brownstone west of the Manhattan theatre district with beautiful woodwork and verandas. They get brownie points for upping our reservation from five to seven people and getting us in and out in time for theatre. Some of our early arriving party had drinks on the accommodating back court-yard, although the transition from court-yard to inside regarding bar tab was less than seamless. When advised of our show tickets our server made a remark regarding "pressure". Good food all around was the consensus. Typical NYC - only ala carte (real estate and rents are still high) but VERY tasty. Disappointingly, there was absolutely no N'awlins style music. Some kind of bad rock (and hey, I did my time at Filmore East , and I like rock music) BLASTING loud. not conducive to a pleasant dining experience at six thirty PM. Perhaps even more annoyingly, when the management came by to ask if everything was alright, and our group consensus regarding bad acoustical background noise was verbalized we were dismissed with, "That is a corporate decision." I doubt I will revisit for dinner. This is a lunch or cocktail hour keeper. A better background acoustic could elevate this to dinner joint status. Karyn
