Yes, it's a bit expensive. But for how many years have these comedians humped it around the Holiday Inn lounges from Sheboygan to Tuba City for little more than beer money before they got here, the number one comedy room in New York? They deserve to make a little cash by now. Actually, many of the performers on stage here are doing pretty well, most having entered into at least minor celebrity status. Veterans from Saturday Night Live, network sitcoms and the late show circuit play here, as the talent is culled to keep the quality high every night of the week. There are more intimate settings, and places with less frenetic movement of people into and out of shows, but you are almost guaranteed to see some very good, very funny acts whenever you go. It's also very amenable to groups; the restaurant is large and efficient, with a for-all-tastes menu of American, Italian and Asian dishes, and a pre-show seating. And in keeping with comedy club tradition, there's the ubiquitous two-drink minimum. -- Dan Glass

Caroline's promotes racism
By tpknyc on 08/24/2007
During the late night act on August 23, 2007, Caroline's kicked out a party of 8 from the audience on headliner Paul Mooney's request because the group of caucasians, hispanics and Asians didn't find his blatantly racism comments funny. Two sips into their drinks, club management unashamedly demanded they leave because the black comedian was obviously displeased that the group didn't find him entertaining as he spewed one racially discriminatory remark after another. AVOID THIS TOURIST TRAP AT ALL COSTS! Don't support a place that gives miserable people like Paul Mooney a platform on which to spew REVERSE DISCRIMINATION.
